this came to me at the most perfect time. thank you. its ironic that i start my period today too because the last two weeks have felt like hell and reading this has been so comforting and relatable. truly cannot thank you enough.
you managed to write some of my everyday doubts in a way in which I can see them from another perspective. Also know what PMDD and I’m try to navigate in it myself, so I send you a big hug!
Acceptance of yourself is absolutely a sign of frontal lobe development! Thank you for sharing these personal thoughts. As someone who is also experiencing growing pains, this was a very much needed post to scroll upon. You have so much clarity and relatability to share. Forget about being the 8th prettiest girl in the room, you have the prettiest heart. Thank you.
God, I loved this. Finally, someone expressed what I have been feeling for years. I always tend to write but everytime I get my laptop or my diary, I end up doing something different. Reading this felt like you were talking to me, about me, and that's what I love about words, they connect, like music. ♥️ Thank you, but this made me felt seen
Thank you so much, Luisa, for bringing light to a condition I hadn't heard about, and for a beautiful piece that just kept rising in intensity in the most pleasant, brain-throbbing, thought-inducing way. Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of thought debris scattered about.
This was a beautiful read. Thank you for being open and letting others understand they are not alone in their daily struggles that life keeps dropping.
I'm so sorry you suffer from PMDD, but I am SO glad to see you writing about it on here, because I think there are still a lot of people who don't know about it, who are struggling in silence, unaware that there is a diagnosis and treatment that might help! Too often women's experiences with PMDD are reduced to "she's just PMSing," and so they never get the care they need! My friend and I are co-editing an anthology of essays on women's gynecological health and we JUST edited an essay for the collection on PMDD yesterday so it's really been on mind. It's so important to talk about, so thank you for being so open and sharing Luisa!
thank you so much for reading, caroline. women’s gynecological health is something i’m deeply interested in and i would love to read the anthology once is out. is there a specific time and place where it will available to read?
Iowa University Press is publishing it in Fall 2026!! It’s called Between Our Legs: Silence-Breaking Stories on Gynecological Health. I know that’s forever away haha. Publishing timelines are sooo long, but as it gets closer I’m going to be posting and sharing a lot about the process on here, so stay tuned! And thank you so much for your support :)
Damnnn I thought it was a normal PMS all this time when am having PMDD everytime a week before ma periodss i don’t what impressed me more that i have a disorder or your 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾 writing 🤎
Ending off this beautiful essay with an Addison lyric 🤌
It took me a long time to learn that silence is when we're doing the work. Good luck.

So calming to read, the way you articulate the feelings of depression, the phantom limb. Ah, you just summed up so many worries of my own thank you
Reading your stuff feels like a warm hug from someone who gets you. I love it so much.
